Vehicles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were notified by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.

An important representative commented the incident left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
